Implant site preservation and development is the concept of maintaining the volume and architecture of both the soft and hard tissues. It is critical to minimize tissue loss during extraction to maintain the natural tissue architecture for future implant placement or for pontic site development. Tissues should be preserved and maintained in their original forms as much as possible from the time of tooth extraction to the placement of restoration. This seminar will highlight several techniques that facilitate a more aesthetic, functional and predictable result in implant dentistry, starting with extraction. Discussion will focus on some of the most commonly asked questions in implant dentistry, such as should grafting be performed after tooth extraction? Which is the best graft material to use? What type of interim provisional restorations to use and the option of immediate implant placement versus delayed implant placement.
Sinus grafting and implant placement in the posterior maxilla
This seminar will discuss what happens to the maxillary ridge and sinuses when molar teeth are lost. What commonly happens is the sinuses pneumatise and then sinus elevation and bone grafting is necessary either prior to or at the same time as implant placement. This seminar will discuss treatment planning options and techniques of sinus grafting and ridge preparation for future implant placement.
A certificate of attendance will be provided, CDP points/hours will apply.
