Astra Tech follows the international guidelines regarding safety, health and the environment adhered to by all companies in the AstraZeneca Group. The standard for environmental management systems, ISO 14001, has been implemented at Astra Tech since 2001. The goal is to reduce the environmental footprint of our business, to economize on natural resources and to promote recycling.
Always a step ahead
One of the strategies for supporting a sustainable business is our risk assessment model, which enables early identification of potential safety, health and environmental issues. This provides us with the possibility to eliminate any such issues from our manufacturing processes at an early stage.
A measurable difference
In 2008, a study of the Astra Tech contribution to climate change was made. The study pointed out energy and transportation to be the main two areas producing greenhouse gases from the business. As an immediate measure to reduce the emissions, Astra Tech decided to start sourcing energy only from renewable sources. By this, the contribution of CO2-equivalents to the atmosphere has decreased by 37%.
